Life in a California high school can have its drawbacks. Just ask Laney (Rachael Leigh Cook). She is considered to be one of the weirdest kids in her whole school, so when Zach (Freddie Prinze Jr.) bets his best friend that he can make any girl into the prom queen, Laney takes center stage. What Zach doesnt realize when he makes this bet is that although Laney may look like a geek, she is really a great person . But before he can make her the prom queen, he has to win her over. This is a task that he feels up to, especially since he is the star of the soccer team, the class president, and the all-around coolest guy on campus. But as he begins his effort, he finds that Laney may not be quite as easy a target as he once thought. SHES ALL THAT is a cute, romantic film that will find wide appeal among teenagers. Also, Kevin Pollak turns in a hilarious performance as Laneys dad.
Unfortunately, a number of scenes include references to sex by the teenagers. They are often found talking about sex they have experienced with someone, or sex they want to have with someone. In addition, there are a number of different slang terms used by the teenagers when describing either parts of their body or the body of someone they are thinking about. There are also a number of disturbing scenes that include teens either smoking or drinking. This behavior is considered acceptable throughout the film. In one scene, one of the teens throws a party at his house while his parents are away . At this party, nearly every teenager has a drink in his hand. And foul language also flows freely with many crudities, obscenities and profanities spoken. The numerous sexual references, drinking and frequent foul language destroy what could have been a reasonable acceptable teen film.
