When computer hacker Luke Dodge (Stephen Baldwin) causes trouble on a prison work detail, he's handcuffed to Charles Piper (Laurence Fishburne). Another prisoner takes advantage of their fight to stage an escape. Dodge and Piper escape also, still chained together, and Dodge is chased by both a U.S. Marshall and a mob boss who want to retrieve the computer data he stole. Piper becomes both partner and protector as Dodge recovers the computer disc with the valuable information. The police detective (Will Patton) who arrested Dodge is suspicious about the Marshall's motives in recapturing the computer hacker. Chase scenes around Atlanta, Ga., landmarks like Stone Mountain and the Georgia Dome include exciting shootouts and fiery car explosions. The unlikely partners' bantering, the easy-going detective and humorous references to popular movies invoke several chuckles. This action film provides plenty of speed and twisting turns and keeps audiences rooting for the fugitives.

Action in FLED includes numerous shootings and fistfights with graphic blood spurts. The fights include vicious kicks and hits. An opening explosion throws people across the room and a later car wreck shows a body half out of the wreckage. Along with the excessive violence comes a collection of more than 130 obscenities, profanities and crude comments. One particularly crude scene shows a stream of urine falling near Dodge. Although no sex is shown, two scenes feature female rear and breast nudity. One takes place in a strip bar with sensual dancers and the other in a massage parlor. Homosexuality in prison is suggested by a prisoner propositioning Dodge on the work detail. Dodge and Piper deny homosexual involvement when their relationship is questioned. An encounter with a hunter plays on the red-neck stereotype of southern white men. The action may be non-stop, but the foul language and excessive violence should halt discerning viewers.
