Cruel, despicable and disgusting best describe Pepe (Efrain Figueroa), a father, husband and entrepreneur. His 18-year-old son, Carlos (Douglas Spain), has just returned from Mexico to live with the family in Los Angeles. Carlos' older sister, Maria (Lysa Flores), takes care of their mother, who is recovering from a mental breakdown, and a retarded older brother. Pepe runs a male prostitute service in Hollywood under the guise of selling tourists maps to movie star homes. Carlos dreams of being a famous movie star and thinks working for his father will be his ticket to fame. There's no plot, just painfully depressing character studies of each member of this dysfunctional family. Maria is the only stable one, but she is bogged down in the swamp of slime her father has created. STAR MAPS tour of the gutter fails to deliver even a glimmer of joy or hope.

Shocking scenes of graphic perverted sex between same sex partners, a teenager and a 70-something woman, plus many encounters between Carlos and an older nymphomaniac should qualify this film for an NC-17 rating. Pepe has an adulterous relationship with one of his employees, and once sends her out with Carlos to perform in front of another couple. His uncontrollable temper explodes into violent outbursts that include beating his girlfriend, his daughter's boyfriend, and Carlos. Carlos' retarded brother makes lewd gestures at his sister's boyfriend and even tries to force her to have sex. Maria's efforts to have a decent relationship with a young man are dashed by cruel Pepe. Obscenities add to the disgusting content, with over 50 s- and f-words, many crude words and several profanities. STAR MAPS has it all for masochists who enjoy foul language and perverted sex. One of Hollywood's most abomidable films in recent years.
