Kate (Jennifer Aniston) is moving up the ladder at her advertising agency. She gets her big break when she comes up with a great concept for her company's biggest client. But her glory quickly turns to gloom when her boss excludes her from the team who's handling the account. She learns this "oversight" is due to her lack of "roots." The executives above her are purchasing cars and homes they can't afford, and that's the way the boss likes it. Because of their debt, he's assured they won't leave to work for one of his competitors. Kate's friend at the agency decides to take matters into her own hands by informing the boss of Kate's engagement, showing him a picture of Kate and a man she's only met once. Suddenly, Kate's career takes off, but she starts falling in love with her fake fianc. She must choose between climbing the ladder or falling in love. The intended teen and adult audience will mostly enjoy this romance which is sometimes funny, sometimes slow.
Kate's a "good" girl who believes in marriage, and therefore, the movie supports family values in a minuscule way, in a very minuscule. Unfortunately, this "good" girl happens to roll around with three different men during the film's 105 minute duration. In the opening scene, she's lying under a guy on the couch, clothes on this time, and he's confessing that he "tested positive." Fortunately, she kicks him out. She also has a two-time affair with the "bad boy" at her office. The affair takes place while she's supposedly engaged. She comments how it "feels wrong." He replies, "That's good." Then they give in to their desires. However, no sex is shown in the movie. But no one suffers from their affairs, and so impressionable viewers learn that extra-marital sex is fun, exciting, and harmless. The movie also contains many sexual innuendoes and references to birth control devices and feminine hygiene problems. Language also deforms this perfect picture with eight crude words, over a dozen obscenities, and four regular profanities. This PICTURE is far from PERFECT with its misleading messages and foul language.
