FILM SYNOPSIS: On the occasion of his fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne reports that his wife, Amy, has gone missing. Under pressure from the police and a growing media frenzy, Nick's portrait of a blissful union begins to crumble. Soon his lies, deceits and strange behavior have everyone asking the same dark question: Did Nick Dunne kill his wife?
PREVIEW REVIEW: It’s spooky, unsettling, and mindboggling, but Gone Girl is also bent on exposing the shams many marriages are built upon. I guess you could call it realistic or cynical, depending upon your view of love and marriage.
One thing Gone Girl says, perhaps despite the filmmaker’s intent, is that marriage, like any alliance or cause man takes on, needs that spiritual component Hollywood so frequently avoids in movie relationships. It’s full of despair and downright depressing, and not a movie to see after just returning from your honeymoon.
DVD Alternative: Vertigo. Hitchcock’s powerful imagery and inimitable style, plus James Stewart’s remarkable performance, make this journey into obsession and hidden fears a mesmerizing masterpiece.

Violence: We see a woman pushed to the ground, with her head hitting a staircase; another time she has her head hit against the wall; one character gets the throat slit and two people struggle in the flowing blood – that scene is very gory.
