Run Lola Run MPAA Rating: R Entertainment: +2 Content: -2

In this fast paced German film with subtitles, Lola (Franka Potente) receives a call from her boyfriend Manni (Moritz Bleibtreu) at 11:40 AM. He has just been involved in a rather large drug deal and as he is taking the cash back to his boss, he loses it. Manni tells Lola that if he doesnt get 100,000 marks to his boss in twenty minutes, he will be killed. So Lola, who had her moped stolen earlier in the day, takes off running. Her first thought is for her father, a banker, to help her, but she also needs to get to Manni before noon because he has decided that his only option is to rob a store nearby. So as Lola runs through the city she runs into and by several different people who will drastically affect the outcome of the story, which is retold three different times. Each time, her encounters with the people she runs by are slightly different, but they make the end results quite different. This is a roller coaster ride of a movie, leaving the audience breathless when it ends. The score, editing, and overall creativity are tremendous, making it one of the fastest paced movies this reviewer has ever seen. However, given that it is a foreign film and its limited release, most people wont even hear about this exciting film.

The movie begins with a crowd of people asking tough questions about life, such as Where do we come from? and Why do we believe in anything? This goes along with the rest of the movie because the audience is never quite sure if what is happening is reality or not. The film implies that there arent any answers to these questions and that we can only depend on the facts. Some violence occurs as a couple of people are punched or slapped. One woman is shot and a man is hit by a car. One scene includes brief still photos of a couple in leather outfits. Its implied that they are taking part in an odd sexual game, but the pictures are only seen for a second or two. The characters speak 4 f-words and 6 s-words, but no profanity. Therefore, RUN LOLA RUN is damaged by the foul language and the misleading ideas about the big questions of life.
