A wonderful alternative to the current films available at your friendly neighborhood video store is this docudrama about the life of Christ (John Kay Steel). It is especially appropriate as Christians prepare for Holy Week. Filmed in Israel, THE REVOLUTIONARY's very professional production flows through the life of the most important man in the history of the world. How could anyone witnessing Jesus turning water into wine, casting out demons, or raising the dead doubt that he is the Son of God? Yet many did, mostly out of fear and ignorance of Gods unconditional love for His people. As Jesus works many miracles and teaches through parables, the Scriptures come to life for viewers. We rejoice with Mary and Joseph at His birth, give praise with the family of Lazarus for new life, marvel at the meaning of the parable of the prodigal son, mourn with His disciples at His crucifixion, and rejoice once again in moving scenes of His resurrection and ascension. It doesnt matter if you know how this moving biblical film ends because the story of Gods love has no ending. This video is a keeper for your family's film library.
THE REVOLUTIONARY does not preach or interpret -- it presents this most remarkable historical event for what it was and continues to be -- Gods truth. For those who would feel intimidated by interacting with Jesus as a neighbor, teacher or preacher, this portrayal conveys him as approachable and accepting. Children delight in playing games with him, and he greets lepers, beggars, scholars and aristocrats with equal love and concern. The film has no offensive elements but because of the intensity of Jesus suffering on the cross, this video is not appropriate for children under 12. Scenes of Christ's temptation and His exorcising demons might frighten young viewers as well. For older viewers, however, THE REVOLUTIONARYS message of Gods great sacrifice can never be told too often.
