This animated family comedy is a clever take on the Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale, with several of the main characters giving various accounts to the police kind of a Rashomon for kids, if you will.
It might be a bit of a stretch to refer to it as an allegory, but Hoodwinked, though superficially, does provide a parable about perceptions. It reminds us of how easy it is to misjudge others. As the adage goes, When you assume, you make an ass out of you and me.
With the voices of Anne Hathaway, Glenn Close, Jim Belushi, Patrick Warburton, Anthony Anderson, David Ogden Stiers, Chazz Palminteri and Andy Dick, the Weinstein Company gives family audiences a witty, song-filled romp. Its a funny film parents should enjoy with the little ones.
