Derailed is a jaw-dropping thriller that is often shocking and disturbing. With his marriage to Deanna (Melissa George) on the rocks and his daughters diabetes worsening, Charles Schine (Clive Owen) is becoming weary. So, when a young, attractive banker named Lucinda (Jennifer Aniston) takes notice of him on his daily train commute, he cant help but indulge his curiosity and begin an adulterous relationship with her. Their risky affair leads them to a tawdry old hotel where they are interrupted by a gun-wielding intruder. What happens next turns their lives upside-down as they now must fight to keep their affair a secret and to protect their own families from the deranged Mr. Laroche (Vincent Cassel), who continues his assault through extortion and threats of exposing the couples indiscretion. The films attempts at suspense and intrigue will only leave viewers reeling from the onscreen terror they experience instead.

Derailed is a creative film at best, but its creativity comes from the darkest part of the human mind. Though the storyline is gripping, it is contaminated by an onslaught of vile and dreadful events. Once this film takes the plunge into the forbidden, it never turns back. It is a journey into the depravity of human nature, exploring elements of adultery, rape, abortion, murder and greed. If this isnt enough, viewers experience a barrage of strong obscene language with 45+ occurrences of the f-word alone. As the film progresses deeper into the sink hole of degradation, there seem to be no consequences for these actions as life seemingly goes on and law enforcement winks its proverbial eye at the vigilantism of the characters. Most viewers will deem Derailed to be a moral train wreck.
