The Fog is a remake of the 1980 film by the same title. In the quiet town of Antonio Bay, residents prepare for the 100th anniversary of the towns charter. The event will culminate with the unveiling of a statue of the towns four founders, whose descendants still live in Antonio Bay. It is also the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Elizabeth Dane, whose passengers were lepers looking for land to set up a colony. Instead of a new beginning, the lepers faced betrayal by the hands of men who had planned to help them. The dark secret of the Elizabeth Dane is hidden by a thick fog that brings a deadly terror as it rolls across the water and beaches of this unsuspecting town. When residents begin to die cruel deaths, the ancestors of the four founders finally learn of the treachery that brought the passengers of the Elizabeth Dane to a watery grave.

The original 1980 movie was panned for having a mediocre cast. Unfortunately, the remake faces a similar fate 25 years later. One character spends her entire time babysitting in front of a TV set watching Jeopardy until she finally is killed. The violence of the film is not gory but is at times intense. The Fog is certainly a suspenseful film, but it is also predictable. Preview readers will notice in the summary that obscene and crude language is limited and only a couple of sexualized scenes. The more troublesome aspect of the movie involves people coming back from the dead as ghosts to kill anyone in their path. The Fog is hardly a film for the family. Viewers who step into The Fog will likely leave confused about many scenes and then walk out still in a fog, trying to figure out the story. Preview recommends that you pass on this mediocre and silly remake.
