In an action adventure set in the gorgeous Caribbean with blue skies, turquoise water and white-sand beaches, Jared (Paul Walker) and the love of his life, Sam (Jessica Alba), dive and swim in the beautiful underwater world among the sharks, knowing which ones to avoid. Jared is struggling to make a living diving and dreams of exploring the ocean floor where a legendary pirate ship lies. One day, he and Sam spot the remains of a crashed plane, and he excitedly calls his brother, Bryce (Scott Caan), hoping he can finance the plane’s retrieval. Bryce, a sleazy lawyer, has squandered any money he ever had on gambling and women. He brings along his girl friend of 14 hours, Amanda (Ashley Scott). The four embark on a dangerous adventure, swimming among the sharks of the sordid drug world, and they will do anything to stop Jared from confiscating cocaine worth millions in the crashed airplane.

Bryce wants to seize the cocaine for a quick sale while Jared insists on destroying the illegal drugs so no one will profit from them. Violence erupts as the ruthless drug lords begin the battle for the cache of drugs. While viewers are spared a gruesome look at a woman who is killed by a shark attack, numerous killings result in bloody bodies strewn on board a yacht. Gun battles, fights and a woman trapped in the underwater crash site provide action and suspense. Amanda’s affinity for cocaine leads her to an alliance with a drug dealer and a betrayal of her friends. In spite of Jared and Sam’s strong feelings for abiding by the law and their initial resistance to the temptation to profit from the cocaine, they live together and party frequently with alcohol. Both Sam and Amanda wear thong bikinis in most scenes. Several obscenities, an f-word and an instance of profanity further sully what could have been a recommendable adventure for teenagers.
