In this action drama, two brothers compete against each other in the dangerous sport of Supercross, a stadium version of off-road motorcycle racing with an emphasis on high-speed jumps over rough terrain. Trip (Mike Vogel) is the more levelheaded of the two brothers, making him the choice for a factory-sponsored team. K.C. (Steve Howey) is the better rider, but his hot head and risky nature get him into trouble. The factory team wants to use Trip to help the team by blocking other riders, not by winning himself. When the two go head to head, K.C. gets hurt, and all that matters to him now is seeing his brother win the biggest race of them all in Las Vegas. He knows Trip has the talent, but he has made some enemies while on the team because of his blocking. Some are out for revenge.
With little plot development and a lot of motorcycle racing, this forgettable movie will not appeal to the average movie fan. But Motocross fans may find this film entertaining with its multitude of action racing scenes with high jumps and stunts. The sibling rivalry gives way when one brother is hurt and then puts all of his energy into helping the other. Teamwork is not portrayed in a positive light; going at it on your own is what is glorified. Although very aggressive on the racetrack, the two become passive when it comes to relationships with women. Both brothers are pursued by women, and the guys let the girls take charge of the relationships. There is some race violence, a brief moment of sexuality, and many instances of bad language. Even without the objectionable content, Supercross: the Movie would not be on Preview’s recommended list.
