Even the kids of superheroes have to go to high school in this comedy. But freshman Will Stronghold's (Michael Angarano) first day at Sky High, a high school for the sons and daughters of the superpowered, proves daunting. As the son of the two greatest heroes, Captain Stronghold (Kurt Russell) and Josie Jetstream (Kelly Preston), everyone expects him to have doubly dynamic powers. Instead, he's got no powers at all. Is his lack of zap due to his being a late bloomer, or is he one of the few who will never bloom? While he waits and wonders, he's placed in the school's hero-support track with kids whose powers don't measure up to the hero standard. Instead of running with the supercrowd, this regular kid finds friends in the sidekicks, whose powers are less than impressive. He then must face the bullying of the supercrowd.

Sky High is more than a kid's movie. It's an entertaining film for the whole family. This Disney release raises important questions for both parents and kids to consider. It challenges parents to avoid placing unrealistic expectations on their kids and humorously shows them the vanity that lies behind living vicariously through their children. And it gives kids a new way to look at the cliques in their own schools. When they see that even a kid with two superhero parents struggles with peer pressure, they'll likely see their own stories in some of the situations Will faces. The social void between the heroes and sidekicks shows how the clique system narrows a circle of friendships. And the sidekicks' spirit celebrates the uniqueness in people and the benefit of joining together to solve problems. This superpowered story loses half a point for some crude language and minor violence
