Percy Jones (Bernie Mac) is an overly protective father who prepares for a big weekend as he celebrates his 25th wedding anniversary and meets his daughters new boyfriend. Simon Green (Ashton Kutcher) sounds like the whole package that Percy is looking for a bright man with a promising future with a large investment firm. But when Theresa (Zo Saldaa) brings Simon home, her parents discover that he is white. When Percy catches them in a compromising position in the bedroom, he has Simon sleep in bed with him to protect his daughter. To make matters worse, a background check reveals that Simon has lost his job and hasnt told his fiance. Percys mouth and manipulation gets him into his own share of trouble with his wife. Frustrated, the two women leave home, and the men must fend for themselves for a night. This will either bring them together or terminate the strained relationship.Guess Who is a far cry from the 1967 hit, Guess Whos Coming to Dinner with Academy-Award winners Sidney Poitier, Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn. When his daughter comes home with a white boyfriend, Percys initial shock turns to frustration as he discovers in a clothed bedroom scene that the two are sexually active. Although his daughter appears to be in love, Percy disapproves and, while he regularly swears, announces that he is the head of a Christian home before he swears and grabs a bottle of gin. Unfortunately, the movie is littered with racial jokes, sexual references and bad language including eight s-words. A better title for this off-color movie is Guess Who Will Be Offended. Preview recommends that you rent the 1967 classic.
