The Pacifier is an actionadventure comedy about Navy Seal Shane Wolfe (Vin Diesel) who is thrust into the sometimes dangerous world of babysitting after his failed attempt to rescue a kidnapped government scientist. After protecting the globally coveted satellite-scrambling technology called Ghost, Wolfe gets his shot at guarding a rebellious group of youngsters while their widowed mother (Faith Ford) crosses the globe to assist in recovering Ghost. After Wolfe is mysteriously abandoned by the family nanny (Carol Kane), he is left to execute the babysitting operation solo. Each of the five children Zoe (Brittany Snow), 14-year-old Seth (Max Theriot), eight-year-old Lulu (Morgan York), three-year-old Peter and baby Tyler brings a different challenge to the rough-edged Navy Seal who must rely on more than his military training to navigate the complex waters of protecting a young family.

As you would expect with the action genre, this film contains some pretty strong action sequences, predominantly at the beginning and end. Many deaths are implied though not directly shown. Hero and villain roles are simply portrayed throughout the film and assists younger viewers in understanding the plotline. The film lacks flow in parts, but some minor twists and surprises keep the suspense alive. Sprinkled throughout is some humor that kept the young audience laughing and smiling. The challenges and fears faced by each of the older Plummer children are typical for their ages and are overcome through learning, discipline and confrontation. Themes include the importance of pursuing dreams and how to deal with emotional scars, and family values are positively portrayed. The movie makes no overt antibiblical messages, is generally lighthearted and will entertain the average 8-to-12 year old.
