Oceans Twelve

MPAA Rating: PG-13

Entertainment: +3

Content: -1

The band of professional thieves known as Oceans Eleven has been scattered across Europe and is now living off of the spoils of their multimillion-dollar heist of a Las Vegas casino a few years ago. Danny Ocean (George Clooney) and his wife Tess (Julia Roberts) must put off their romantic anniversary due to a sudden threat from the casino owner, Terry Benedict (Andy Garcia), who demands the return of his millions plus interest within two weeks. Let the fun begin as the 11 plus one (Catherine Zeta Jones) reunite to search the globe for a job that will satisfy Benedicts demand and avoid certain assassination by his goons. As the days, hours and minutes tick away, the gang focuses on a heavily guarded Faberge egg at the Hermitage museum in St. Petersburg, Russia. Oceans Twelve requires close attention as the intrigue, plot twists and character quirks keep viewers guessing. Also starring Brad Pitt and Matt Damon.

Oceans Twelve delivers entertainment for teenagers and adults without any deep, philosophical message. The thieves are competing with another extremely cunning, sophisticated Frenchman, Francois Toulor (Vincent Cassel), known by law enforcement as the Night Fox. He works alone and is bent on beating Dannys 12 at their own game. So, its not a case of funny, bungling thieves being cheered on by viewers to outsmart law and order. While the movie is like a game of capture the flag, children may see it as a glamorization of professional thievery. Rusty and Isabel are shown briefly in a bedroom scene, implying that they are living together, but theres no sex or violence, only lots of action and verbal threats. With enough foul words to give it a negative rating and lighthearted treatment of crime, Preview cannot recommend Oceans Twelve.
