Desperately lonely and consumed by grief, Telly Paretta (Julianne Moore) is left to cope with the devastating loss of her eight-year-old son. Her husband, Jim (Anthony Edwards), believes that she is delusional, having conjured up an imaginative son they never had. Despondent and overwhelmed, she finds a therapist (Gary Sinise) to help her wrestle through the flood of emotions. In the midst of her turmoil, unexplainable events send her on the hopeful search that her son is not a fantasy and may in fact be alive. She encounters a man (Dominic West) who also mysteriously lost his daughter, and they embark together to find their children, who others have forgotten. The twist of events and spine-tingling suspense will capture your thoughts as the plot unfolds.
Tellys love for her son is unbreakable. As demonstrated by Jesus delivering Himself up for the world, there is no greater example of sacrificial love than one giving his or her life for another. While this is commendable, the film implicitly answers the question of why evil exists in the worldby unfortunately suggesting thata sadistic, heartless god or being is to blame. The film portrays this entity as one who arbitrarily causes evil in humans lives for no purpose and presents mankind as the innocent victims. This is contrary to biblical instruction, which identifies God as light and love, and mankind as the perpetrator of evil. The Forgotten also contains a fair amount of profanity and an f-word and is filled with violence. While this film could be used as a bridge to explain the truth about mankinds existence, its not recommended viewing by Preview.
