May (Angela Bettis) is a disturbed, young girl who winds down by cutting herself in this horrorcomedy. She works in a veterinary clinic and lives alone with the only friend she has ever known, a hideous doll given to her as a child by her mother. She imagines that the doll gives her advice. May is lonely and dreams of falling in love with the perfect man. She ends up falling for a mechanic (Jeremy Sisto) who works down the street from the clinic. But when he discovers how weird she is, he dumps her. She then tries a lesbian relationship with a coworker (Anna Faris) who also thinks she is weird but wants to have sex with her anyway. The relationship comes to a halt when May finds that her newest love is cheating on her. May continues to lose her friends and lovers, so she decides to take her mothers advice from the past: If you need a friend, make one. She creates one by using the body parts of those whom she murders, including her ex-boyfriend and her lesbian lover.
May is nothing more than a disgusting, trauma film that ranks down there with the worst movies of all time. The only laughs it draws are from viewers being embarrassed or uncomfortable. Its filled with bad language and lots of violence consisting of murders and the removal of body parts. The friend that she creates is an ugly, revolting assembly of these parts. The violent scenes are extremely graphic and gory. May kills her cat in one scene, and the film ends with a self-mutilation scene in which she stabs her own eye in order to remove it. And there is sexual content, both heterosexual and homosexual. From the beginning to the end of this terribly long 95 minutes, the overall tone to the film is evil. May receives Previews most negative acceptability rating and is strongly not recommended for anybody.
