Mafia!

MPAA Rating: PG-13

Mafia is the latest slapstick comedy to hit the theaters this summer. The story unfolds over nearly a century, as the young Vincenzo Cortino (Jason Fuchs/Lloyd Bridges) is driven from his home in Sicily and forced to swim to America. There he launches into a life of crime and grows up to be the infamous patriarch of a powerful crime family. However, as Vincenzo ages he realizes that his power must be handed down to one of his two sons. He decides to give his blessing to Anthony (Jay Mohr) the war hero. This greatly disturbs Joey (Billy Burke), his older son, who is already psychotic. But when Vincenzo is shot and later murdered, his sons must come together to find the killer and exact revenge. Mafia is a spoof of old mob movies with stooges as the main characters. It's constant rapid fire humor will appeal to those rather large audiences who like this kind of wacky, bizarre comedy.

However, the continuous outpouring of crude, vulgar sexually charged dialogue make Mafia offensive and disgusting. When a boy wishes for his girlfriend to get breasts, she develops them right there on the big screen. Later when a couple is engaged in intercourse, some graphic humorous antics are shown relating to a man's genitals. And although there is no nudity, Mafia does contain every crude reference imaginable to sex, including two explicit sex scenes. Also a stripper is shown dancing very suggestively. There is belching, vomiting, and passing gas. People are shot, burned, electrocuted and stabbed, all for the sake of humor. In one scene, a mob boss cuts-off his finger. Although this is intended to be humorous, it is quite disgusting. It is hard to believe Hollywood didn't give all this vulgarity an R rating.
