Bride of Chucky, The

MPAA Rating: R

Entertainment: +2

Content: -3 1/2

In this fourth installment of the Child's Play films, the murderous doll Chucky (voice of Brad Dourif) is brought back to life by his girlfriend Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly) in a bizarre Voodoo ritual. Chucky's goal is to make himself human so that he can go on living, but during another Voodoo ceremony he accidentally transfers Tiffany from her body into a doll. The two dolls begin a journey to retrieve an amulet that will allow them to become human. So they catch a ride with two teenagers, Jade and Jesse (Katherine Heigl and Nick Stabile), who have no idea that they are transporting killer dolls. This film is creative, considering that it is the fourth in the series. It also has some surprising twists and turns with good special effects.

The movie will appeal to teenagers and adults who have enjoyed the other Child's Play films. The two teenagers, Jade and Jesse, are the only redeemable qualities in this film, but they come across as rebellious on a couple of occasions. The rest of the film is gory from start to finish, with many graphically violent scenes in which the dolls kill people. The dolls end up using most of the foul language in the film, making sexual comments and motions, and doing the majority of the killing. In one graphic close-up, Tiffany slits a man's throat. And the Voodoo ritual that Tiffany orchestrates to bring Chucky back to life is clearly evil and Satanic. The film also contains 33 f and s words along with 10 profanities. All of these elements make Bride of Chucky a film worth avoiding.
