Fear Dot Com

MPAA Rating: R

Detective Mike Riley (Stephen Dorff) is drawn into the investigation of several deaths whose only link is visiting the same Internet website. Initially concerned about a possible biological plague, Department of Health Inspector Terry Houston (Natascha McElhone) joins Riley in the investigation. Together, they discover that each victim died exactly 48 hours after viewing the feardotcom website. Riley keeps an open file on a sadistic killer who got away; Alistair Pratt (Stephen Rea) tortured his victims before a live audience on the Internet. Against Terrys advice, Riley visits the site and finds himself haunted by images of torture that could lead to Pratt. Terry also visits the site and makes some grisly discoveries. But what links Pratt to the website and can they solve the puzzle before the 48 hour time limit? Only the strong-stomached will be drawn to FEAR DOT COM as it mixes ghost stories and technology with gruesome images of torture and dead bodies.

Frequent images of gruesome torture, decomposing and dead bodies, as well as bloody injuries fill the screen. Numerous obscenities fill the dialogue. Many scenes feature nude females either as dead bodies or subjects of torture. The theory is touched upon that interconnecting many computers through the internet creates a living spirit and provides a residence for vengeful ghosts. No need to visit FEAR DOT COM.
