Air Bud: 7th Inning Fetch

MPAA Rating: G

That fun, furry, four-legged hero, Buddy, the sports-happy golden retriever, is back for a fourth adventure - this time exhibiting his superior athletic skills at baseball. In this all-new Air Bud escapade, Josh (Kevin Zegers) goes off to college and his younger sister, Andrea (Caitlin Wachs) takes the spot-light. With her parents (Cynthia Stevenson and Richard Karns) busy with a new baby, and her older brother and confidant gone, Andrea is experiencing some growing pains. She struggles to fit in at her new school, but life is lonely and difficult. But Buddy is always there for her. Finally, she and her best friend hit on the idea of trying out for the baseball team. Andrea has only one problem with this - shes terrible at it - until Buddy teaches her how.

The film has some good things to say about working hard to achieve a goal, and working out personal difficulties with family and friends. It also speaks to growing up issues about fitting in. The sub-plot of the film involves two nerdy pseudo-scientists who decide if they can catch Buddy and each of his sports-star pups, they will be able to clone the perfect dog. So, one by one, they kidnap Buddys pups; Striker, Shooter, Zack, and Duke. The wacky wise-cracking sheriff chases the dognappers, but ultimately it is Andrea who saves the day. One man declares, We are not the bad guys, we are scientists. Andreas little brother does wet on her as she changes his diaper and when Buddy darts across a busy street, bus brakes screech as hes almost run over. Amazingly devoid of objectionable elements, this was a fun family filmwish theyd make more of them like AIR BUD: SEVENTH INNING FETCH.
