Freddy Got Fingered

As the host of his self-titled MTV television series, Tom Green has achieved a popularity which is both surprising and quick. After appearances in a few films, like the MTV produced ROAD TRIP, Green now takes the peculiar humor of his TV show onto the big screen as co-writer, director and star in this story of a son’s deep desire to please his hard working father. Green plays Gord, an oddball who shows some artistic talent. But when Hollywood rejects his animated drawings, Gord comes crawling back home to live in his parent’s basement. Family tension rises as Gord’s father, Jim (Rip Torn), tries to motivate his son to stop ‘doodling’ and get a real job. Gord’s journey to garner his father’s acceptance is long, bizarre, and unfortunately for this movie, not very funny. As this reviewer quickly discovered, the constant urge to throw up inhibits the ability to laugh. Except for MTV fans of the star, don’t look for FREDDY GOT FINGERED to make a big splash at the box office.

The film includes scene after scene of vile and disgusting material featuring Green's absurd humor. At least a quarter of the press-screening audience left within the first twenty minutes. The majority of offensive material deals with sexual content, ranging from Gord's girlfriend constantly wanting to perform unconventional sex, to Gord's crude handling of a horse and later a male elephant in a sexual manner. In a particularly gruesome and offensive scene, Gord bites through a newborn's umbilical cord, then swings the infant by it. And we haven't even mentioned the anal probe of Gord's brother referenced in the movie's title. A constant stream of obscenities crosses the lips of the performers, especially the angry father, leaving FREDDY GOT FINGERED fully corrupted.
