6th Day, The

MPAA Rating: PG-13

Entertainment: +3

Content: -2 1/2

Set in the very near future, THE 6TH DAY tells the story of nice guy Adam Gibson (Arnold Schwarzenegger), a simple helicopter pilot with a wife and daughter. In this futuristic world, cloning of all kinds of animals, and even human organs, is commonplace. But because of a failed experiment ten years earlier, full human cloning has been outlawed. However, when Adam returns home from work to find a copy of himself enjoying his own birthday party, he quickly becomes entangled in a plot much bigger than himself. Not only does he have to fight off people trying to kill him, but he also has to figure out why this is happening to him. THE 6TH DAY is an exciting action flick that is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Since the films main premise deals with human replication, several thought-provoking issues are raised. Questions like who decides who gets to be cloned? and is a clone of a human being anything less than an actual human being? are asked throughout, although the film offers no easy answers. Some characters, presented as believing in God, are portrayed as radicals on a mission to stop all cloning, whatever the cost. Some nudity is seen in the cloning process, although its extremely brief and non-sexual in nature. Obscenities, crude language and strong profanities are used throughout the dialogue. However, constant violence is the most common feature and includes a fairly graphic scene where people have limbs shot off. The excessive violent content, along with foul language, should cause many to leave THE 6TH DAY off their calendar.
