Did you think that the once the wicked witch queen in SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS met her waterloo, Snow White and her Prince lived happily every after? So did I. HAPPILY EVER AFTER tells us about our childhood heroine's later problems. The wicked queen's villainous brother, Lord Maliss (voice of Malcolm McDowell) every bit as formidable as his sister, vacillates between a human and flying dragon-like monster. The queen's famous talking looking-glass (Dom DeLuise's voice) informs the brother that Snow White still lives. Determined to finish the evil task his sister started, the Lord Maliss tracks down Snow White and her prince, and the adventure begins. Escaping from his grasp, Snow White runs through a forest and comes upon the Seven Dwarfs cottage. However, she soon discovers they have moved on and the cottage is occupied by the dwarfs' cousins, the dwarfelles. Under the close watch of Mother Nature (Phyllis Diller's voice), each one has her own responsibility. Thunderella, Blossom, Muddy, Sunburn, Moonbeam, and Marina. They all join to help Snow White find her prince and ultimately save them both from the clutches of evil. Definitely not the caliber of Disney's SNOW WHITE, this sequel is downright corny. Probably the under five set will get caught up in the action, but others will be bored and disappointed.

This film is another example of animated violence used to entertain the very young. The hideous villain with occult powers to destroy his enemies, the dark scary castle with hidden dangers, and, of course, the jagged lightening and fierce storms dominate the story. Fierce wild dogs stalk Snow White and the dwarfelles; a cigar-smoking owl is dangled over a boiling pot; the evil Lord Maliss turns his enemies into stone. On the lighter side, the dwarfelles are loving and caring. Each has responsibilities and they must operate as a team to keep nature in balance. The theme prevails that love is stronger than evil as Snow White exhibits courage and strength protecting her friends. HAPPILY EVER AFTER has no offensive language, profanities, or sexual content. Parents should be forewarned, however, that the targeted audience of young children might find it frightening.
