How would you like to have your senses so intensified you could hear confidential conversations behind closed doors, read small print in the next block, and, yuck, smell the most obnoxious aromas from a distance? That's what happens to college senior Darryl (Marlon Wayans) when he volunteers to take an experimental drug for $3,000, which he desperately needs to pay tuition, rent and help his mother. Darryl is competing with a wealthy banker's son, Scott (David Spade), to win a position as a junior analyst with a prestigious investment firm. The side effects of the drug help this ambitious, hard working young man access vital information to impress the executives interviewing him. The drug also gives him amazing athletic ability to play on the college hockey team which wins the attention of the lovely Janice (Tamara Taylor). Darryl becomes a campus hero until the drug wears off rather abruptly and his new-found success crumbles. Senseless may appeal to teenagers and has some funny moments, but Wayans need to learn less is more.

Less bathroom humor is certainly in order. Ninety-five percent of SENSELESS includes crude bathroom humor, inappropriate scratching, and disgusting noises. It's as though Hollywood is looking for a new way to offend the public now that it has become desensitized to sex, violence and foul language. Darryl is so broke he sells several pints of blood in one day, then goes to a sperm bank for more money. Once the drug wears off, Darryl confesses he eavesdropped to be able to give prospective employers impressive responses. He also cares deeply for his mother and younger siblings and holds down four jobs to help support them. Tim (Matthew Lillard), Darryl's Zen-philosophizing roommate, jingles when he walks because of rings in his nose, ears and other body parts thankfully obscured by his clothes. At a fraternity party, a girl performs a sensual dance, rubbing against bystanders and later tries to seduce Darryl. When Darryl is mugged in an alley and stripped of his clothes, he grabs a garbage can lid to cover himself, but his bare buttocks are exposed. Four regular profanities and nine obscenities add to the tasteless theme of SENSELESS, a most descriptive title.
