Camp Nowhere

MPAA Rating: PG

Every summer the parents of Morris Himmel (Jonathan Jackson) and the parents of his fifth grade friends send them off to camp to learn something useful. But this summer they devise a scheme to set up a camp with no rules or counselors and convince their parents to let them attend. They have a real wild time doing just what they want to and eating junk food. They do employ one supervisor, such as he is, in the form of Dennis Van Wilker (Christopher Lloyd), an out of work high school drama teacher who has just as much fun as they do. When their parents show up uninvited for a "parents day." they put on some great shows to prove they are engaging in productive activities. But are the parents really fooled? All the kids are likeable sorts, and their non-stop wacky activities will surely appeal to the young set.

Though wild and frantic, the pranks of the kids are mostly harmless fun. Although they deceive their parents, they are respectful of them and are all reconciled when the camp comes to an abrupt end. Some of the boys and girls sort of team up, but there's no sexual activity, except a kiss or two. However, a few of the girls wear brief swim suits and some mildly suggestive remarks are made about the girls' anatomy and going swimming in the nude. There is some playful fighting, scuffling, and minor injuries, but no real violence, Unhappily, a few comical foul words and profanities are included, probably to avoid a G rating. In general, the escapades of the kids are subdued and not malicious, which gives the film a more wholesome character. Except for its limited offensive language, CAMP NOWHERE is fairly family friendly.
