Jerky Boys, The MPAA Rating: R Entertainment: +1/2 Content: -3

Buena Vista's newest release features Johnny Brennan and Kamal Ahmed playing themselves as the Jerky Boys. This low budget film lacks just about everything, including a storyline. It is based on the audio tapes of prank calls these two have recorded and successfully marketed. In the film, Brennan and Kamal are friends who grew up together playing pranks on other people. Now as 20-year-old men they cannot seem to hold down jobs. So as the ultimate scam, they decide to trick the mob into taking care of them. Lazaro (Alan Arkin), the head of the mob, hires the Jerky Boys as hit men. However, the man he wants killed is the owner of a bar they frequent. To save their friend, they decide to catch the mob money-laundering. The rest of the film is spent on the boys running from the mob, escaping from the mob and supposedly outwitting the mob. In the theatre, some viewers were checking their watches and longing for the end. Its weak and tasteless dialogue, combined with the absence of any humor, makes THE JERKY BOYS well worth missing.

In an attempt to camouflage the weak dialogue, the script contains over 100 obscenities. Rest assured that not a minute goes by without one being uttered. This film just spews forth filth. Although no real violence is shown, the film is just vulgar in nature. In one scene Brennan and Kamal are trying to escape the mob and end up stuck in a public bathroom stall. To scare away the mob, they pretend to be gay. The dialogue is explicit and repulsive. And the way the mob gets rid of their enemies gives new meaning to the word "hot dog." Although no one is shown being ground up in the meat grinder, the illusion is discussed in great detail. This is simply a sad excuse for a movie. Don't waste your time.
