Neilson Crow (Lawrence Fishburne) works for a corrupt division of the CIA. He is on assignment to facilitate the takeover of an organization called the Tool Shed, an undercover team which helps its corporate clients out of jams for a high price. Crow penetrates the Tool Shed operation by posing as an ex-CIA agent and landing a job with the team. Tool Shed client, Currel Industries, is in danger of losing $25 million in an environmental negligence court case. In response, they send Crow to bribe the judge to cast the deciding vote for Currel Industries. Meanwhile, Crow informs the CIA about how the Tool Shed operates. They work with him to plan the murder of the Tool Shed president. But plans take an unexpected twist when the Judge kills himself. With its complex, hard to follow plot, BAD COMPANY is like reading a violent, graphic comic book.
Deception permeates every area of society, from government and corporate leaders, all the way down to the common laborer. The characters, without exception, have no reservations about performing evil acts. Moreover, honesty and integrity are looked upon as weak and stupid. Explicit on-screen sex scenes include a man with his niece. Although the incidents of violence are few, they are severely graphic. These entail violence against women and on-screen deaths. The most disturbing scene, however, occurs at the end of the film in which a gory gunshot wound to the head is graphically shown. Offensive language was not spared either as obscenities and profanities are used frequently. BAD COMPANY is another example of Hollywood continuing its trend of trying to pass off shock and evil as entertainment.
