National Lampoon's Senior Trip

MPAA Rating: R

Entertainment: +1 1/2

Content: -3

Students cause high school principal Todd Moss (Matt Fewer) lots of trouble because they say the school system is bad. So Moss makes them write a letter to the President about how school could be improved. After the letter reaches Washington, the students are invited to speak to the President's Education Reform Committee. But a senator has his own agenda for reform. With Red (Tommy Chong), a drug users' idol, at the wheel, the seniors head for Washington. Even though they are chaperoned by Ms Milford (Valerie Mahaffey) and Moss, the students party on liquor all the way. Once in Washington, the debacle continues in the hotel, lounges and ballrooms. Can they present a better image for the President or will their appearance embarrass him and give the scheming senator support? Who cares? NATIONAL LAMPOON'S SENIOR TRIP will surely turn up on the "Worst Movies of the Year" list.

An ad for the film states, "Four score and seven beers ago. . . they came, they saw, they passed out." That sums up this film filled with teenagers drinking, taking drugs, plus the constant barrage of sexual innuendo and crude bathroom humor. The students steal alcoholic beverages from a convenience store, and in a drunken state, perform disgusting bathroom functions in public. In the hotel, Ms Milford, after eating "spiked" chocolates, unbuttons her blouse for Moss, and seduces him while the students watch through one-way glass. Even the smartest girl in the group decides to have sex so she won't go to college a virgin. Sex is implied at least four times, twice on films and twice by couples in bed afterward. Also, figures of authority are portrayed as corrupt or weak and ineffective. This film isn't worth the trip.
