Everybody's favorite moose and squirrel, Bullwinkle and Rocky, star in this homage to Jay Ward's comic TV creation of the '60s. When evil no-goodniks Boris Badenov (Jason Alexander) and his partner in crime, Natasha Fatale (Rene Russo), learn the secret that allows them to jump from Pottsylvania cartoon existence into reality, they waste no time trying to take over the world and, of course, get rid of Moose and Squirrel. Led by criminal mastermind, Fearless Leader (Robert DeNiro), Boris and Natasha plan to hypnotize the entire population to elect Fearless Leader as President through their media network, RBTV (Really Bad TV). But FBI agent Karen Sympathy (Piper Perabo), literally pulls Rocky and Bullwinkle from Frostbite Falls TV retirement into the real world to foil the plot. Filled with cameo appearances, bad puns and Bullwinkle's classic literal interpretations of slang phrases, the tongue-in-cheek, humorous satire of ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE will attract old fans and youngsters alike. But older fans will have to look sharp to spot all the word play.
True to their character, Rocky and Bullwinkle make the transition after 35 years of retirement with their morals intact. It bothers them when they discover Karen lied on the job and when they steal a truck from Boris and Natasha. And Rocky tells Karen that when thinks look hopeless, you have to have the most faith. Karen also learns that what you believe when youre young can still be believed in as an adult. Slapstick cartoon violence occurs a few times as Rocky and Bullwinkle are literally flattened by a bus and Boris and Natasha take some falls. Although one cartoon character is supposedly "killed," he's later seen "surfing the Internet" with Bullwinkle. Apparently for the PG rating, the narrator lets loose one "damn" and another character uses a mild obscenity. But THE ADVENTURES OF ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE can be enjoyed by anyone over six years old.
