Gumby Essentials
by Phil Boatwright

To celebrate Gumby’s 50th anniversary, Genius Products and Classic Media will release Gumby Essentials on DVD September 4th.  The collection includes popular episodes from the 1950s, 60s and 80s series, personally selected by Gumby creator, Art Clokey.  Gumby Essentials will be available for $16.93 SRP at many retail stores and features environmentally friendly packaging.

For his big anniversary close-up, the one and only Clayboy gets a makeover!  For the first time, Joe Clokey, Art Clokey’s son, has used the original film to digitally re-master each episode from the classic TV series.  The original soundtrack has been restored and the 50s episodes returned to their original 11-minute format (previously two re-edited, 6-minute shorts).

Joe Clokey, President of Clokey Productions, said, “Gumby was created as a gift of love for the child in all of us.  Brought to life by my dad’s imagination and artistic vision, Gumby continues to have great appeal today.  This is the must-have collection of the first 50 years of Gumby’s amazing adventures.  My dad and I are thrilled to share the stories from Gumby Essentials with fans of all ages.”
