Ever been nervous when getting on an airplane, afraid its going to crash? Alex Browning (Devon Sawa) gets that feeling, and when he refuses to let his plane take off, gets kicked off, along with a few of his friends. When the plane explodes soon after departure, everyone gets a shock to their system, realizing they cheated death. But in this film, death doesnt get cheated. One by one, the survivors die in odd and accidental ways. All the while, Alex continues to get premonitions. So, he tries to cheat death again by helping his friends avoid their accidental demise. After an intriguing start, the film quickly loses momentum with regular, run of the mill horror movie action. The mystery of his friends deaths and his visions lose out to less inventive scenes of gore. Although, with the promise of a scare or two, FINAL DESTINATION could prove to be moderately successful with teenagers.

Much of the plot involves the premonitions Alex receives, which are implied to be from a personified Death. Death controls the ultimate fates of the teens. Obviously, the Bible does not support the view that some entity named Death controls life and death for any person. Instead, the Bible reserves that power to God alone. However, a man quotes a Bible verse from Ecclesiastes that affirms Gods control over the issues. Since death is a central issue in this horror story, several violent scenes occur, including one graphic decapitation. Viewers get to see the head leave the body. Another character is hung and strangles in a freak accident. One scene includes female breast nudity as a teen looks at a pornographic magazine. Objectionable language is frequent with 44 f-words, among others. Vulgar language and gruesome violence should keep many from making this film their destination.
