This film is unrated by the MPAA, however, its graphic sexual content would merit an R-rating, if not an NC-17.

BETTER THAN CHOCOLATE is in short a lesbian romantic comedy. Maggie (Karyn Dwyer) has chosen a sexual lifestyle that her family knows nothing about. But when her mother and brother come to visit she must either find a way to come out to them or hide her lesbian activities with her live-in partner. This film presents with attempted satire the difficulty of living life as a homosexual female. Its graphic portrayal of lesbian sexuality, including full female nudity in scenes of unconventional sex between two females, is intended to show how supposedly natural such relationships are. Maggies mother is shown as ignorant, prudish, and nave for not being able to handle her daughters progressive lifestyle. And homosexuals, bisexuals, and transsexuals are shown as much more sensitive than the rest of the heterosexual world. Christians, as well, in one scene are portrayed as insensitive and hypocritical. BETTER THAN CHOCOLATE is simply another in recent attemptsTHE EDGE OF SEVENTEEN, GET REAL, TRICK were not reviewed by Previewby Hollywood to mainstream a sexual choice that is clearly articulated in Scripture as deviant and wrong. While living a minority sexual lifestyle must be very difficult because of the hateful comments and actions of insensitive people, our Christian compassion for homosexuals must be coupled with a disapproval of their sinful behavior. This film was not viewed in its entirety, therefore, there is no content summary. However, obscene and profane language, graphic sexual activity and prolonged nudity, along with the acceptable portrayal of immoral unconventional lifestyles, give BETTER THAN CHOCOLATE an extremely objectionable rating.
