As a soldier, Kull (Kevin Sorbo) rocks. As a king, he rules. But his choice of a bride leaves something to be desired. In this exciting and funny action comedy, Kull becomes king of the mythical land of Valusia. Although he is hailed by his countrymen as a hero, Kull becomes the hated target of jealous nobles who plot his demise. Though he is falling for the slave girl Zareta, he is bewitched into marriage by the beautiful Akivasha, who appears as a 19-year-old maiden, but actually is a 3000-year-old sorceress who has been resurrected by his enemies. She has come back to rule Valusia and return it to a state of darkness, a time when demons ruled over men. Once Kull discovers the truth, he and Zareta must travel to a far away land to obtain the power to defeat Akivasha. Fans of the Arnold Schwarzennegger films "Conan The Barbarian" and "Conan The Destroyer" will get a charge out of KULL THE CONQUEROR.

Just as in the Conan films, magic and sorcery are prevalent, but no attempt is made to present the gods or their religion as real. Many sword fights break out, but tend to remain only moderately violent. One climactic stab in the chest is about as gory as it gets. Of greater concern is the presentation of occultic devices. Zareta is a palm reader, and uses tarot cards to divine Kull's future. Sexually suggestive action also poses a problem as women wear revealing dresses and Kull participates in two sex scenes. Neither scene contains nudity, but passionate kissing and mumblings appeal to prurient interests. Some depictions of the sorceress Akivasha become demonic in nature, and may frighten younger viewers. KULL THE CONQUEROR makes for an entertaining escape, but offensive material mars this otherwise fun film.
