Corbin Bernsen, Nathan Gamble, Bruce Davison, Lloyd Warner. Drama. Written & directed by Corbin Bernsen.

FILM SYNOPSIS: Writer/Director Corbin Bernsen (25 Hill, Psych) and Nathan Gamble (25 Hill, Dolphin Tale, The Dark Knight) star in this inspiring story about the true power of faith.

Oliver, an inquisitive 12-year-old, is caught in a tug-of-war between the teachings of science, the message of Christianity, and the dark cloud hanging over his home life. His all-American family may appear happy, but tragedy tears them apart behind closed doors. As his parents face their own faith crisis, Oliver struggles with some of life’s toughest questions. Why are we here? What happens when we die? Who made us? Just as Oliver turns to science for answers, a mysterious and quirky drifter miraculously appears. Their interaction leads Oliver to the ultimate truth: God can only be found through faith — and not by sight alone.

“My hope is that Beyond the Heavens will encourage people to explore faith, open their mind and go beyond what they think they know,” said Bernsen. “This is what my mother encouraged me to do. I hope to encourage others to do the same through this story.” Because of his mother’s influence on his faith journey, an issue central to the film, Bernsen is dedicating Beyond the Heavens to his late mother, actress Jeanne Cooper. The movie will wide release on October 25, Cooper’s birthday.

PREVIEW REVIEW: Beyond the Heavens is a thoughtful, touching and relatable story, aided by a solid performance by young Nathan Gamble, proficient production values, and engaging dialogue. By film’s end one realizes that science can never truly trump faith, for science feeds the brain, while faith feeds the soul.
