Puss In Boots
Entertainment: +3
Acceptability: +2

3-D animation. Voices: Antonio Banderas, Selma Hayek, Zack Galifianakis. Directed by Chris Miller.

FILM SYNOPSIS: Long before he met Shrek, the notorious fighter, lover and outlaw Puss in Boots become a hero when he set off on an adventure to save his town, aided by the street smart Kitty Softpaws and the mastermind Humpty Dumpty .

It gets the PG rating for action sequences that include shooting and a couple of characters dying, plus some mild content that could be considered bawdy, but will most likely go over the heads of little ones.

PREVIEW REVIEW: Though not purrrfect, certainly not in the same league with animated films such as Bolt, The Lion King or a select few classic cartoons featuring talking animals, still Puss In Boots is fun family feline fare. With its slapstick buffoonery, its Spanish-flavored swagger, and the occasional frisky pun, the cat comedy offers something amusing for everyone.

While Im not a fan of the now overused 3D, when done right the effect works especially well with animation (Despicable Me being an outstanding example). Here the visual trickery adds to the story and the reason we go to a kid-aimed early matinee to get caught up, as a family, in the wonder of movies.
