Director: Andy Fickman. Main Actors: Kristen Bell, Jamie Lee Curtis, Sigourney Weaver, Odette Yustman, Betty White.

FILM SYNOPSIS: This comedy about a small-town wedding stirs up some very uncomfortable high school memories for Marni (Kristen Bell), her mother Gail (Jamie Lee Curtis) and Aunt Ramona (Sigourney Weaver). Marni, a successful public relations executive, returns home for her brother’s wedding only to discover the bride Joanna (Odette Yustman) is the bully who made high school a nightmare for Marni. Then Joanna’s Aunt Ramona, a female “Donald Trump” who oversees her many hotels via her private jet, shows up, much to Gail’s chagrin. They were also high school rivals. You Again will resonate much more with women than men, but overall it’s a fun movie. Betty White as Grandma Bunny doesn’t have a large role, but she makes the most of it, especially when she recognizes her own high school nemesis.

PREVIEW REVIEW: “Catty” behavior doesn’t come close to describing the antics of Marni, Joanna, Gail and Ramona as they relive old hurts and resentments. Marni does her best to sabotage the wedding. She digs up old videos that reveal Joanna humiliating Marni at school events and plays them during the rehearsal dinner. Gail and Ramona rehash old misunderstandings which have continued to haunt them for decades. Eventually the parties realize that it is time to let go of the past and begin to mend their broken relationships. Through recent media reporting, the public has become more aware of the long-lasting effects of bullying in the schools. Certainly You Again addresses that issue. This PG rated film can be recommended because of a welcome void of foul language, profanities, sex and bloody violence. Social drinking at the wedding festivities does include some drunkenness.
