In this musical animation, three brave bovines take on Alameda Slim, the sneakiest cattle rustler (voiced by Randy Quaid) in the Wild West. A Jersey cow named Maggie (Roseanne Barr) awakens one morning to discover the rest of her herd has been stolen. This forces her owner to quit the ranching business and leave Maggie with a kind, granny lady. She treats Maggie and the rest of her animals as friends and calls her farm Slice of Heaven. After a poor harvest year, she cant make her property payment and receives notice that her farm will be auctioned in three days if she does not pay. Granny refuses to sell any of her livestock, so the animals are sure to lose their home. To save the farm, the cows Maggie, Mrs. Calloway (Judi Dench) and Grace (Jennifer Tilly) try to capture the rustler for reward money. They discover the outlaws hideout, but he soon abducts them. The rustler has more than he can handle when Buck the horse (Cuba Gooding Jr.) comes to the rescue.

The three cows realize that they succeed and persevere during difficult circumstances when they give up their personal interests to serve one another. They learn to accept others, putting up with bad singing, burping and irritation, and they grow to tolerate and work alongside those who are different. The animals enjoy wholesome fun like juggling fruit, playing with cans and racing around the farm. Parents need to be aware of abundant cartoon violence. The creatures punch, kick, push and hit each other. The animals are also sassy and do a lot of insulting and name calling, which is rude but not crude. Overall the animals are positive and express genuine concern toward each other. With a warning about the animated violence and mild, rude humor, Preview recommends this one as an enjoyable film for the entire family.
