This horror film is a 21st-Century remake of the 1979 zombie movie, which was the second part of George A. Romeros Dead Trilogy. Ana (Sarah Polley), a nurse at a hospital in the mid-sized town of Everett, Wash., is puzzled by a patient that has been placed in the intensive care unit because of a bite. After she goes home to a romantic evening with her husband, the couple falls asleep unaware of the plague-like event hitting the community with corpses walking the streets. The next morning, a neighbors child attacks her husband. As Ana tries to help him, she soon realizes that the town is in chaos. Those who have been bitten die and come back to life as bloodthirsty zombies looking for victims. After finding their neighborhood in ruins, Ana and a police officer (Ving Rhames) go to a shopping mall where they find a dozen others holed up and fighting off zombies. Now they must all join together in order to survive.

In this horrific film, death is portrayed in a perverted and grotesque light. A TV preacher explains that when there is no room in hell, the dead will walk the earth not exactly biblical theology. Hideous creatures attack and bite their victims, thereby replenishing their numbers. They can only be destroyed by fire or gunshots to the head, both of which are shown graphically and repeatedly. People are run over by cars, and others are stabbed in the head with various objects. A pregnant women gives birth to a hideous zombie baby. While passing the time, a man stands on the roof and practices his marksmanship by shooting people in the head. The film is loaded with lots of blood and gruesome images. In the midst of all of this, a couple is shown having sex. Virtually every sentence contains bad language, including more than 30 f-words. Due to these objectionable elements, nudity and overall bad morals, Preview does not recommend this film.
