In this light-hearted, simple-minded comedy, Donna Jensen (Gwyneth Paltrow) is stuck in the small town of Silver Springs, Nevada, as a commuter airline flight attendant and longs for the glamour of New York, London and Paris. After being accepted as a trainee at Royalty Airlines and taken under the wing of legendary flight attendant Sally Weston (Candice Bergen), Donna becomes the ace student and appears to be on her way to the most treasured routes. Hard-nosed flight-attendant trainer John Whitney (Mike Myers) is especially comical. Unfortunately for Donna, her roommate at flight school Christine (Christina Applegate) deceives her, and Donna is relegated to Royaltys commuter airline in Cleveland. There she is reunited with old boyfriend Ted (Mark Ruffalo) who is working on his law degree. When Donna is finally given another chance at Royalty, she must choose between following her dream and pursuing her love.

View from the Top is full of gags and humorous antics. Unfortunately, the film has several objectionable elements. Most of the female flight attendants are continually shown in short, revealing outfits, including underwear and bathing suits. While there is no full nudity, many of the girls are shown in revealing tops. The male, homosexual flight attendant is the focus of several gay jokes and innuendoes. While there is not a great deal of obscene language, the dialog has several mild, exclamatory profanities. Many of the scenes with Donna and her friends involve social drinking, and Donnas stepfather is shown in a drunken stupor. Donna moves in with her boyfriend and they are shown together in bed. The foul language alone is enough to ground View from the Top.
