Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back

?K<? Kevin Smith introduced the characters of Jay (Jason Mewes) and his non-verbal partner, Silent Bob (Smith), in his first film CLERKS. Theyve been recurring characters in all Smiths films since. In his fifth, and reportedly final, film Smith pulls the cameo players into the spotlight and stars from his previous films, such as Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, make cameo appearances. The story follows the slacker duos trip from New Jersey to Hollywood to stop production of a film about comic book characters based on them, because comments on the Internet about the planned film are disparaging. Along the way they encounter a gang of female jewel thieves, free and befriend a laboratory orangutan, and spoof numerous famous films. Strictly for fans of Smith films, the humor is mainly for the young adult crowd.

Sadly, the film loses its humor with the obscenity spewing Jay, who fills most of the film’s dialogue with over 200 f-words and sexual slang. A recurring joke deals with unconventional sex acts. Scenes include a prominent male arousal, “mooning” others, and selling marijuana to young teens.
