Bridget Jones's Diary

Thirty-something and single, Bridget Jones (Renee Zellweger) makes a New Years resolution to take control of her life. In order to mark her progress, she keeps a diary, which ends up recording the most outrageous year of her life. After swearing off chauvinistic and inconsiderate men, Bridget immediately falls for the chief example, her boss Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant). At the same time, her mother tries to set her up with lawyer Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), who grew up in their neighborhood. Unfortunately, Bridget sees Mark in quite a negative light, even though he could be better for her than she thinks. Drawn from Helen Fielding's popular novel and loosely based on Jane Austens classic novel PRIDE & PREJUDICE, the film comes across as fresh and energetic. With plenty of laughs throughout, this looks to be a real crowd pleaser.

In spite of its many laughs, the film is filled with vulgar jokes and crude comments. Offensive dialogue spills out of nearly every character, with the primary offender being Bridgets vulgarity-laden boss. One particularly offensive comment about urination takes the cake. In addition to the constant stream of sexual dialogue, one graphic sex scene briefly shows a nude couple on the floor. Premarital sex is implied a few times and sex outside of marriage appears as acceptable behavior. Crude sexual content and the prominence of foul language make BRIDGET JONESS DIARY better kept under lock and key.
