The Big Hit follows professional hit-man, Melvin Smiley's (Mark Wahlberg) life at home and on the job. Melvin is the best of the hit-men, but he doesn't know it, because everyone keeps taking advantage of him.His mistress, Chantel (Lela Rochon) leaves with his earnings at the same time that his fiancee Pam's (Christina Applegate) parents (Elliott Gould and Lainie Kazan) arrive for a visit. Meanwhile, he and his professional associates, Cisco (Lou Diamond Phillips), Crunch (Bokeem Woodbine), Vince (Antonio Sabato, Jr.) and Gump (Robin Dunne) get drawn into a moonlighting gig that goes sour. What seems like a quick and easy weekend kidnap job of a young woman backfires when their victim turns out to be Keiko (China Chow), the godchild of their boss, Paris (Avery Brooks). Cisco, the mastermind of the plan betrays Paris, and Mel's life begins to unravel as he becomes a wanted man. This quick-moving, comedic-action thriller is sure to bring a lot of laughs as well as shrieks.

However, THE BIG HIT truly hits below the belt, as this film has a little bit of everything offensive. The opening shoot-out scene has at least 18 men die of gunshot wounds. In another scene, Mel is shown removing and taking care of a dismembered body. Several other times, men are killed on-screen with knife wounds to the chest.Along with this there is an attempted rape of Keiko interrupted by Mel, who shoots the rapist in the head. In addition to the violence, full female breast nudity and rear male nudity appear accompanied by graphic language regarding masturbation. There is also a time when Mel helps Keiko pull her panties down to go to the restroom.Included in this barrage of filth is vomiting on screen and over 100 obscene words, including 78 f-words and 45 s-words. Although THE BIG HIT is sure to gain some approval for its humor, it is so offensive that sensitive viewers will leave feeling they have truly been hit by something.
