Ten years ago, Daniel O'Grady, an Irishman living in South Dakota, had stolen a leprechaun's sack of gold while visiting Ireland. The evil leprechaun followed him back to the States, and killed Mrs. O'Grady. The Irishman managed to corral the dwarf and lock him up in an old wooden crate in the basement. When new owners move in ten years later and pry the lid off the crate, teenage Tory (Jennifer Anston) and her dad quickly become victims of a very vicious leprechaun. A motley trio of hired hands - handsome young Nathan (Ken Olandt), slightly retarded Ozzie and ten-year-old Alex - join Tory's efforts to outwit the grotesque killer. Meanwhile, Ozzie and Alex find the sack of gold by following a rainbow. Their elation is short-lived, however, because the leprechaun has followed them. His magical powers make him invincible, and only a four-leaf clover will destroy this little demon. Non-stop killings and torture, a few chuckles and utter nonsense will appeal to a very limited audience (we hope).

The claws on the leprechaun dig deep trenches in his victims' limbs and faces. He attacks everyone who comes near him. One man dies being pulverized with a pogo stick; another's neck is broken; a woman is pushed down the stairs. Nearly every scene has blood and gore. Shootings, beatings, car crashes and smashed windows further terrorize victims and the audience. Unfortunately, the laughs come mostly at the expense of the retarded Ozzie and when little Alex exclaims the f-word. Offensive language includes the f-word four times and the s-word three times. The leprechaun's magical powers play a prominent role in the action. There is no nudity or sexually suggestive action or dialogue. Move over, DR. GIGGLES, PET SEMATARY, AND LEPRECHAUN just might capture the most tasteless movie-of-the-nineties award.
