Originally rated NC-17, this film was apparently trimmed enough for an R-rating, but the focus is still sex. Four New York males meet each Sunday in a diner for breakfast and detailed discussions of their weekend exploits "scamming." Scamming is putting on an act to pick up women for sex. One of the four no longer plays because he's married, but shares his insight to women with the other three. One weekend, each of the three seem to have met the perfect girl. Unfortunately, for all three it's the same girl named Mia (Amanda Peet). It's friendship versus relationship as all three men date Mia and tries to convince the others, she's only interested in him. But which one is she really interested in? Billed as a comedy about dating and sex, the laughs are limited and the crowds may be also.

Since the film focuses mostly on guys views about sex, continuous discussions are filled with explicit descriptions of sexual acts, both conventional and unconventional. Except for a comic scene involving one of the men in thong underwear, the film manages to avoid nudity. But several scenes show the men in bed with women, sometimes with more than one. And Mia is shown in bed with each. A later scene shows her with other women, discussing each man's performance and genital size. She also admits to a sexual act with the married man. Although one man admits to believing in marriage, he sees nothing wrong with having many sexual relations before marriage. And the married friend feels his two year marriage is stifling, but tells the others that sex within marriage is best. But crude sexual dialogue, endorsement of premarital sex and almost 200 obscenities make WHIPPED, a cruel and unusual punishment.
