The name is Bond, James Bond, identifies British spy Secret Agent 007 (Pierce Brosnan) in GOLDEN EYE, Ian Fleming's fast-paced thriller. It takes place in Russia, Europe and the Caribbean as the adventurous Bond wages a one-man war against a bank of Russians hawking high-tech weapons. With the aid of the Internet, anyone can be found anywhere, making our world smaller all the time. Agent 007 performs some incredible feats: he jumps on a helicopter in mid-air, and, in an armored tank, he chases bad Russians, destroying parts of buildings and cars obstructing his path. This film consists of one long chase as Bond pursues or is pursued on trains, planes, cars and helicopters. The coupe de gras takes place on a gigantic satellite dish in Cuba as Bond and his opponent square off on precarious satellite girders and wires. One woman Russian spy proves to be extremely evil and vicious. She and Bond match wits and fight each other in various scenes. James Bond fans will no doubt delight in Brosnan's credible showing and the special effects in this latest spy thriller.

GOLDEN EYE is the 17th installment of the most successful film franchise in history. Like its 16 predecessors, it too is loaded with violence that includes shootings and killings too numerous to count. However, one scene of a woman stabbing a man during sex is particularly offensive. Also, Bond brutally hitting and kicking the Russian spy seems excessively graphic, although she seems to hold her own and both walk away. Explosives and fires destroying cars and buildings, so typical in action films, abound in GOLDEN EYE. Also predictable are the dashing Bond's sexual conquests and beautiful, sexy women in revealing clothes. In one of the several sex scenes, side female nudity is shown. Surprisingly, the dialogue has no obscenities and only two regular profanities. Either you like Bond or you don't, but even fans may find GOLDEN EYE excessively violent and too sexual.
